Showroom secret: the perfect bun

Most showrooms in the city request that "hair is pulled back in a sleek chignon" - an impossible feat through a day of constantly changing clothes. Girls, you know what I'm talking about.

I finally got tired of having to attack my head with hairspray and pins to keep my flyaways at bay and instead reached for "sock bun" method. I've noticed girls sticking a sock on the top of their heads and smoothing the long parts of their hair over it, creating a PERFECTLY smooth donut-shaped bun. As I watched, their hair never wavered- ALL DAY long.

I admit that I laughed at first, then proceeded to finding it ridiculous and somewhat uncleanly to put a sock on the top your head, but none of these girls ever had a hair out of place! This is because the longest pieces of your hair are on the outside, keeping any layers of rebellious locks tucked neatly away. Exactly what I've been trying to do!!

So when I saw the new Conair Perfect Bun Maker for $5 in Walgreens, I pounced. They're super light, and offer a few different sizes. I went for a smaller one since I was going for subtle, but the more hair you have, the bigger size you will need. They also include a hair elastic and four bobby pins in the box, which is super exciting.

I was doing this for an evening wear client, so I went for an elegant look starting with a low ponytail on the nape of the neck. The directions are to pull the ring up to the top of your ponytail and wrap your hair around it, but I have too much hair, so i started at the tip of my ponytail and rolled the donut towards my head, then pinned it into place.

Survey says: It's been so much easier to maintain - I haven't had to fix my hair once! Highly recommended ladies!
